Opera Touch Browser Featuring Crypto Wallet to Arrive On iOS Platform

In December 2018, Opera launched its cryptocurrency-focused browser on the Android operating system. The browser features a built-in wallet supporting Ethereum-based decentralized application (DApps). Additionally, the Opera Touch browser also features several Web 3 functionalities.

In a recent development, Opera has now announced to launch its Touch browser on Apple’s iOS platform. Thus, the Opera Touch will be available across the suite of Apple devices including the iPhone and iPad. Opera said that citing huge demand from the crypto community, Opera decided to take steps in this direction. The official statement reads:

“iOS users around the globe will soon gain access to a beautifully-designed, full-featured browser with an integrated native Crypto Wallet and Web 3 browsing functionalities.”

Buying Crypto Tokens Directly From the Opera Browser

Last month, Opera announced that Android users could buy cryptocurrency directly from its built-in wallet. Opera wants to provide its users with a seamless crypto-buying experience. Furthermore, its “Web 3” integrated feature prevents installing other apps for digital asset purchases. Opera notes:

“We identified the biggest challenge to be the lack of easy-to-use solutions for crypto. Users were forced to install separate wallet apps which didn’t include full-featured browsers. Setting up such wallets was difficult and browsing the Web with a wallet app is burdensome. We removed this hurdle by integrating an easy-to-use wallet into our Android browser. Now, we are delivering this seamless experience to iOS users”.

This is yet another positive step from Opera towards pushing the cryptocurrency mass adoption. The web browser is also making important partnerships with other companies in the tech space. Recently, Opera entered in a deal with Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer HTC.

With this deal, HTC will host the Opera Touch Android version on its first blockchain smartphone, the Exodus 1.

Partnership With Safello

To launch the Opera Touch wallet with built-in crypto wallet, the company has partnered with Safello. Safello is Europe’s most user-friendly Bitcoin exchanges in the market. Thus, users can make payments through credit and debit cards along with other “trusted” payment networks.

For the new partnership, Safello also said that it will abide by all the regulatory norms as applicable in Europe. Frank Schuil, CEO and co-founder of Safello, commented on the collaboration:

“Our solution will secure all transactions on the Opera browser through the same rigorous regulatory requirements that built trust with our customers. Users’ identities will be verified securely and seamlessly with BankID and NemID in the Nordics.”
