POKT Network Adds Three New Gateways, Steps Closer To Scaling API Access To Every Open Data Source On The Internet

POKT Network, a leading decentralized blockchain infrastructure, is excited to announce the launch of three new Gateways: Developer DAO, Chainstack, and Porters, providing developers with read/write access to over 60 blockchains.

Each Gateway is built directly on POKT Network’s universal RPC base-layer infrastructure, removing developers’ need to build and maintain any underlying infrastructure. This allows the Gateways to operate as independent RPC businesses, serving as independent access points that enhance data accessibility and network performance on the POKT Network.

The Gateways are designed to enable centralized and decentralized businesses to resell access to infrastructure by leveraging a blockchain protocol as the central coordinating party. This system adopts a business model that ensures more benefits are shared amongst more businesses, allowing the POKT protocol to win from more demand for core services. At the same time, Gateways enjoys lower operating expenditure, less time on marketing, and more time and resources.

Commenting on the launch, Dermot O’Riordan, Director at the POKT Network Foundation, stated:

“The introduction of these three key new Gateways marks a key step forward for POKT Network and the broader ecosystem. In the same way that L2s radically improved scalability at the application layer, our Gateways enable builders to easily plug into POKT’s cost-effective, reliable, and scalable DePIN infrastructure without compromising on performance or UX. By accommodating access and demand on a scale previously unseen, we’re not just expanding the capabilities of our network, we’re laying the groundwork for a future where access to any large open data source is unfettered, secure, and universally available.”

Currently, the POKT Network has six Gateways. Initially, POKT began as a single Gateway but launched a second Gateway in October 2023. This notably accounted for about 30% of network volume, beginning an accelerated strategy rollout. Earlier this year, the Network integrated a third Gateway in March.

Launched in 2017, POKT Network has grown to become a leading decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN). This has enabled the POKT Network to offer unmatched scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency—currently, it supports over 15,000 nodes in 22 countries at $0.85 per million API. POKT Network guarantees 100% uptime under 25 ms latency across 60 blockchains.

Developer DAO is the first Gateway to be owned and operated by DAO. Founded by EigenLayer’s Nader Dabit, Developer DAO emphasizes community and an extensive network of builders to drive innovation and network growth further. Chainstack is one of the largest and most respected RPC businesses, while Porters is a platform for the leading Web3 developer collective Raid Guild.

Adding to the integration, the POKT Network is up for an upgrade, the Shannon Upgrade scheduled for summer 2024. The upgrade will reportedly simply be the integration for RPC providers and projects by removing current limitations. This will remove the current limitations and introduce permissionless gateway creation, thus making censorship resistance fully attainable. Currently, this update is available in private Testnet.
